High-Risk Older Patients Benefit from ACE Inhibition

KEY POINT

ACE inhibitor therapy should be considered in all older patients who have (1) diabetes or any vascular disease (coronary artery disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease) plus (2) one other risk factor for cardiovascular disorders (hypertension, high total cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, cigarette smoking, or microalbuminuria).
