Cyclosporine increases serum repaglinide concentrations

KEY POINT

By inhibiting hepatic metabolism, cyclosporine significantly elevates the peak serum concentration of repaglinide (Prandin—Novo Nordisk) and the drug’s area under the serum concentration– time curve (AUC). This interaction has the potential to increase repaglinide’s glucose-lowering effects, increasing patients’ risk of hypoglycemia.
