FDA updates warnings on ibuprofen–aspirin interaction

KEY POINT

Citing published and unpublished ex vivo studies, FDA has called on health professionals to warn patients that the cardioprotective effects of lowdose aspirin may be negated or decreased with concomitant use of ibuprofen. Similar effects of other NSAIDs are unstudied, the agency said, but acetaminophen and narcotic analgesics would not be expected to interact with aspirin in this way.
