Morphine linked to decreased clopidogrel concentration, effects

KEY POINT

Concurrent administration of a clopidogrel loading dose with morphine resulted in delayed clopidogrel absorption, reduced levels of clopidogrel’s active metabolite, and diminished effects in healthy subjects, as compared with administration with placebo. These effects could lead to treatment failure in some individuals who receive both medications for acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
