Inhaled Steroids: Drugs of Choice for Adult Asthma

KEY POINT

Inhaled corticosteroids are the single most effective therapy for adult patients with chronic asthma, according to the results of a recent meta-analysis. Besides improving lung function and ameliorating symptoms, these medications have the greatest effect in reducing asthma exacerbations compared with other pharmacologic agents used in the treatment of asthma.
