Long-acting beta-agonists associated with exacerbations, deaths


Severe, life-threatening asthma exacerbations and asthma-related deaths are increased with use of long-acting beta-agonists (LABAs), according to a meta-analysis in the Annals of Internal Medicine. An accompanying editorial warned of the need to use these agents properly to avoid such drug-related problems.
