Does tramadol increase hypoglycemia risk?

KEY POINT

Tramadol use may be associated with a higher risk of hospitalization for hypoglycemia compared with codeine, according to an epidemiological study published online in JAMA Internal Medicine. However, additional study is needed to determine the clinical impact of this potential adverse effect.
