Investigational vaginal ring may prevent HIV-1 infections in high-risk women

KEY POINT

Use of a monthly vaginal ring containing dapivirine in women at high-risk for HIV-1 transmission living in Africa resulted in a significant reduction in the number of new cases of HIV-1 infections compared with women using a placebo ring, according to results of the ASPIRE study published in the New England Journal of Medicine
