Understanding cardiovascular risks in patients with HIV

KEY POINT

A recent review on cardiovascular complications associated with HIV management concludes that the virologic and immunologic benefits of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) clearly outweigh modest lipid elevations that may occur with some therapies, as these elevations can be appropriately managed with available therapies such as statins and fibrates.
