High-dose influenza vaccine more effective than standard dose for nursing home residents

KEY POINT

Older people residing in nursing homes who received the high-dose influenza vaccine (Fluzone High-Dose—Sanofi Pasteur) had a lower risk of respiratory-related hospital admissions, pneumonia hospitalizations, and all-cause hospitalizations compared with those who were given the standard-dose influenza vaccine, according to results of a large trial published in Lancet Respiratory Medicine.
