Antibiotic-associated adverse effects common in hospitalized patients

KEY POINT

Results of a retrospective cohort analysis at a large academic medical center showed that gastrointestinal (GI), renal, and hematologic abnormalities were common adverse events (AEs) in hospitalized patients treated with parenteral or oral antibiotics, with these data underscoring the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescribing.
