Support for high amino acid doses in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury

A review of amino acid requirements in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) receiving continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) supports high amino acid doses of 2.5 grams/kg/day to improve nitrogen balance; however, efficacy, safety, and outcomes data with this regimen are limited by study design.
