OTC NSAIDs: Take on empty stomach?

KEY POINT

With little evidence supporting the risk of serious gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity with OTC use, it may be better for patients to take NSAIDs on an empty stomach due to faster onset of action, investigators argued in a recent article. However, this recommendation is not consistent with FDA-approved labeling for these agents and supporting data are limited.
