Tramadol ER may be an effective option for opioid withdrawal symptoms

KEY POINT

Use of extended-release (ER) tramadol to manage opioid withdrawal symptoms was more effective than clonidine and had comparable efficacy to buprenorphine when given to patients participating in a residential tapering program, according to results of a trial published in JAMA Psychiatry.
